When looking at the landscape of Adult Party Games, Cards Against Humanity remains as the mark to beat. We’ve even written about it before. This Adult-rated Apples-to-Apples variation has stood the test of time. And with tonnes of available expansion packs (here’s our favourite new one) the repeat playability of Cards Against Humanity is hard to top. If you don’t own a set yet, time to invest as you’re missing out!

We have to admit, we groaned when we heard this game existed, but it’s actually really fun. Think of it as Cards Against Humanity but with a picture instead of a Black Card. In What Do You Meme? players compete to caption the photo, instead of matching two phrases together. They’ve also come out with several expansion packs, such as the "Basic Bitch" pack or "Stoner" pack, so the repeat playability should be great.

The concept of The Voting Game is pretty simple: players vote on a series of titles pertaining to the group they are playing with. Think of it as a card game version of high school yearbook superlatives (only less family-friendly). This game works best when everyone playing knows each other well, so pick this up for a tight-knit group of friends.

The only game on our list that works just as well with players that don’t know each other as those that do, Exploding Kittens is a more traditional card game. The party game appeal comes from the hilarious artwork and captions on the cards. Players try to outlast each other by avoiding “exploding kittens” and using their own cards to block them. This one is also family-friendly (ages 7 & up) but all ages will get a kick out of these cards.

Fans of social strategy games should try out Secret Hitler, if you can get around the unfortunate name. Players are divided into Liberals and Facists, one of which plays as Hitler. Through the course of the game, the competing teams try to elect players who share their interests to put forth their party’s policies. If you’re a fan of Mafia or Werewolves, try this one out as it’s in the same family, but with a different overall strategy. (And if you can’t get over the name, but still love social strategy games, pick up this Werewolf set instead).
